First of mate, that a great bike you’ve got but it ain’t a touring bike. If your going a long way round Europe then you bike might give you trouble. Its best you rent out a Harley Touring bike for the journey. Nevertheless, I would have done the same if I had a bike. Yes the job scene is horrible, this would be the best way to get away for a while.
We’ll it seems to be like you want to be left on your own as you’ve gotten off facebook, so this might be probably the best thing you do for yourself in long time. its good your riding a mid ranged bike for touring and not a really top of the line kind of bike. Reason for that is if something goes wrong with your bike, you would have to pay a big some to get it running, esp. when you don’t have a job. Biking in a group is usually more fun. I’ve done plenty of that in India. Rode from Bangalore city in the south all the way to Himachal Pradesh in the North touching cities like Manali where lot of bikers end their journeys. Sharing experiences and chatting about the best rides you’ve ever had make you feel that your not alone, there lots of people who feel the same just like you. There people just like you who can have their day ruined if they don’t hear the revving of their bikes engines. It does bring forth bliss to your day.
The most toughest thing we’ve ever experienced was when we had our fuel freezing up on the way up to Himachal as the weather suddenly shift from the hot unbearable climate to sub-zero temperatures. So we would pull up every 3 miles to get the fuel checked. However I guess the fuel available here in UK be engineered to deal with colder climates. Its good to always keep a 24 helpline number stored on your phone just in case your stuck in the middle of night and don’t know where you are. I suggest you plan your trip and make sure you know where your going before you start off. Read about the countries heading too so you know where to go and make sure your making the best of your trip.
All the best for journey I am sure your going to wish it never ends, esp. since you’ve chosen a bike for the tour. Much better than a car, at least wont have to worry about Red Diesel prices if your environmentally conciousness.
