India shaping up
Our first admission into the international racing events began with Narayan Karthikayen in Formula 1 with team Jaguar. Although not successful, it didn’t matter, it just showed the world that India has finally come into the international raceway. It was soon followed with the entry of Chandhok it HRT again with formula 1. Vijay Mallya entered Force India in 2007 into the world Formula 1 Championship. Everything was falling into place.
Well enough about f1, the 2 wheeler championships also witnessed the entry of mahindra racing in the 125 series Moto GP racing league this year. Moto-Rev India will soon compete on the the Moto GP high tier racing, a Chennai based team with a dedicated association of true bike enthusiasts with engineering degrees and high knowledge on bike performance parts and tuning.
This all seems to be great news but when will it be when one of our very on will be on the podiums soon holding the victory trophy, a driver or a rider who other peers will fear and respect. There is still a long way towards that but it isn’t an impossible venture. Since these sports are high budget events that require alot of recognition and sponsorship, the money for these performance racing team will come only from victories while these victories will lead to more sponsorships and more money.
This decade has been the decade of motorsports in India. The opening of the Jaypee International Race Way will witness the entry of formula 1 in India for the first time. Hopefully next year Moto GP will make an inaugural entrance as well with Moto-Rev India leading the pack. Hopefully by 20 years or so, India should make an impact in the racing scene. With opening of motorsport institute specifically for competing on international platforms, things could get any better. Looks like the the red diesel suppliers are being ignored.
