Right tool for the right job

Those who go on long tours always come back crying and complaining and cursing me for painting them a glorious experience which they would remember for their life times. However in their excitement, they tend to NOT listen to me carefully.
You might say – there is no big deal, you take a bike and go from one end to the other. If it was that simple then I wouldn’t regard it as my passion at all. But there is a way, a discipline in how you do it, it isn’t all that simple – the discipline is not to scold you but it is there to take care of you. No matter how comfy your seat can be even in a really expensive car or a bike – you will end up with an immensely irritating back pain and it will get to you, a fact you can’t escape.
First of is getting the right bike. If you need to travel a really long way, i.e interstate runs, your going to need a touring bike, if your very eager to do that and don’t have one, rent one – its worth it when it saves your back. Secondly, DO NOT take a partner on with you if you think your enough do without a touring bike – you will need space and you need place to move you aching butt from time to time. Carry a bag with food and water. You never know when you may not be able to find a restaurant or a shop. Keeping spare cash helps. I’ve gotten into terrible situations where I had to stop and go at 10 shops where they all said ’no card’. And when your really desperate for food or water it could tick you off. Where comfortable Dress fabrics, not put on leather if it doesn’t feel comfy just to look like a biker.
This should be helpful. Read all of it carefully and don’t complain then.
