The Piaggio X7 300 Evo

April 27th, 2011

The same brilliant 278cc motor that is fitted on the Vespa GTS 300 powers the versatile Piaggio X7 300 Evo and yet comes at a price that is £300 cheaper thereby making it a sneaky bargain item. One would have to forego the Vespa Style and logo for this reduction in price.

The engine gives 80 mph top speed and consumption is 70 mpg. The speed may not be something to be very thrilled about but in town it does make for a sneaky look. The natural look of the bike gives the impression as if the vehicle was made with comfort and stability in mind, it is a lot like a civic (though a car) in this case. The seat is well padded for one and there is enough leg space from the pillion too. The screen in front keeps the weather off and makes this bike a comfortable one to go on for long drives. Handling is stable even though there is a bit of a top heavy feel to the whole vehicle.

The boot is not deep enough to hold a full face Shoei XR-1000 helmet in its cavity. This could be taken as a disadvantage of sorts. But it is large enough to contain one’s shopping list and contents thereof within it. One could also go for the optional top box, alarm and leg cover as well as chain lock peripherals.

The vehicle comes with a two year warranty and the built is strong enough to hold on for longer periods than the rest. The total cost of the vehicle is £3,599 which is less by £300 than the GTS300. All in all this makes for an intelligent buy given the features of the bike as compared to the others available in the market presently. The company is known for its bike making experience and this unit shows it all the more.
